No.1 Stainless Steel Coil is a hot-rolled, pickled stainless steel coil manufactured according to ASTM A240, EN 10088 and JIS G4304/G4305 standards. It is mainly used in structural and industrial applications where surface roughness requirements are not high.

Features

Rough Surface

After hot rolling and pickling to remove oxide scale, the surface exhibits a uniformly rough texture, suitable for subsequent reprocessing steps such as sandblasting, coating, or machining.

High Deformation Capacity

With an elongation of ≥40%, it can withstand significant plastic deformation without cracking during cold bending, rolling, and forming, making it suitable for tank and shell manufacturing.

Corrosion Resistance

Cr (18.0–20.0%) and Ni (8.0–10.5%) form a stable passivation film, slowing down the oxidation process on metal surfaces in general atmospheric and weakly corrosive environments.

Thickness Available

Thickness range 3.0–50.0 mm, coil weight up to 25 MT, meeting the material cross-sectional size requirements of large structural components and heavy-duty equipment.

FAQ

Q: Can surface No. 1 be used directly for exterior parts?

A: No. 1 is a hot-rolled, pickled surface with a high roughness. It is generally not used for parts with specific appearance requirements. For exterior applications, polishing or cold rolling is necessary.

Q: How should different materials (e.g., 304 and 316) be selected?

A: When the environment contains chloride ions or corrosive media, 316/316L (containing Mo) can be selected. In general environments, 304/304L can be selected to meet basic corrosion resistance requirements.

Q: Does the coil material require additional treatment before processing?

A: No special pretreatment is usually required before welding or forming, but the surface should be free of oil and contaminants to avoid affecting weld quality or subsequent processing performance.
